Hot take: I fought a Samsung ice maker for three hours yesterday and lost.
It was a model RF28R7351SG, and the auger motor just quit mid-cycle, leaving a full bin of cubes. I swapped the motor with a new one, but now it's making a grinding noise and won't eject. Has anyone else had this specific auger motor replacement go sideways?

Ugh, my neighbor went through the exact same thing with that motor. He said the new one had a bad gearbox right out of the box. Had to send it back and wait for another one, total headache.

Yeah, the "bad gearbox right out of the box" thing seems to be a pattern. I saw a whole forum thread last week where like three people in a row got the same model with a whining sound in second gear. One guy took a video of it, and it was super obvious.
