Had to pick between a new compressor or patching the old one
Old compressor on a 10 year old fridge started short cycling. Decided to patch the start relay instead of swapping the whole thing out for $400. Been running fine for 3 months now. Anyone else gamble on a cheap fix and have it pay off?

Soldered a capacitor bank into a dead microwave for $3 and it worked another two years.

I used to think microwaves were throwaway appliances once they died, but that $3 fix totally changed my mind.
