Can we talk about how much better a dishwasher cleans after you clean the filter?

I used to think a dirty filter barely mattered. Then last month I pulled the filter out of a 3 year old Bosch after my neighbor said his dishes were coming out spotty. The gunk was thick, maybe half a cup of sludge. After I scrubbed it, the wash cycle dropped from 90 minutes to 70 and plates came out actually dry. Has anyone else seen that big a difference just from a filter clean?

Oh man, I gotta say I actually had the opposite experience. I cleaned the filter on my five year old Whirlpool and honestly didn't notice much difference at all. The cycle time stayed the same and dishes were still a little wet at the end. Maybe Bosch machines are just built different or something, but I think people oversell how much a dirty filter really matters in the grand scheme of things.
