Am I the only one who flipped on used control boards after the shop talk at the supply house in Gary?
Spent 20 minutes in line at the parts counter in Gary last Thursday and got into it with an old timer who swears by pulling boards from the boneyard. I always wrote off used control boards as a gamble, too many mystery faults, and I said so. He shrugged and said he's been doing it 30 years and keeps a tester rig on his bench, checks voltage on every pin before it goes in a machine. That got me. Started pulling boards from a couple dead units in my own scrap pile instead of ordering new, tested them right, and 3 out of 4 worked fine. Saved a customer about $180 on a dryer fix last week. Part of me still worries about a comeback call though. Anybody got a system for testing pulls before they trust them in a customer's house?
