Warning: soundproofing curtains did nothing for my wall noise

I bought a set of those heavy soundproof curtains for my bedroom wall facing the neighbor's TV. Spent $120 on two panels after reading reviews that said they worked miracles. Three weeks later I can still hear every word of their 9pm drama shows. The curtains blocked light fine, but low frequency bass and voices went right through. If you're dealing with neighbors, save your money and look into acoustic foam panels or a white noise machine instead. Has anyone else found a fix that actually works for shared wall noise?

Did you check if the noise is actually coming through the wall itself or maybe through a gap around a window or door frame? That makes a big difference because curtains only help if the sound is hitting the fabric directly. I mean, low frequencies are a whole different beast, they vibrate through solid structure like crazy. Did you try putting a bookshelf or something heavy against that wall in the meantime? Because that's what actually helped me once, it adds mass instead of just trying to block the air.
