Vent: my upstairs neighbor's 2am laundry vs. my lease renewal deadline

My building offered me a unit on the top floor for $75 more a month, and I had 48 hours to decide before my renewal locked in at a higher rate. I took the top floor after hearing the washer thump through my wall at 2:15am during a Tuesday thunderstorm, and I have slept through the night for 3 weeks straight now. For folks who moved to escape a noise problem, did the quiet actually last or did a new one just show up?
