Serious question, did you all know standard apartment walls are only about 4 inches thick?
I stumbled onto this while killing time on a building code site last night and my jaw just dropped. Turns out most interior walls between units in my 1970s complex in Sacramento are just 2x4 studs with drywall, no insulation at all. I measured mine with a tape and got right around 4 and a half inches, which explains why I can hear my neighbor's microwave beep. Has anyone here had luck asking a landlord to add a sound panel, or am I better off just hanging a thick rug on that wall?
