PSA: my landlord's handyman told me to stop hanging shelves on the bedroom wall, and he was right
He came by to look at a crack in my ceiling and pointed at my floating shelf full of books. Said the wall between me and 4B is just drywall on thin studs with nothing behind it, so all that weight is basically hanging in the air with my neighbor's TV on the other side. I pulled the shelf down and the anchors came out like pulling a tooth from wet bread. Now everything heavy lives on a bookcase against the hallway wall. He also said the outlets on that shared wall are the reason I hear 4B's hair dryer at 6am. Has anyone else had a handyman just hand them a free fix like that?
