My upstairs neighbor's 2am laundry shook a picture off my wall last week
I live in a 600 sq ft place in a Minneapolis building from 1962, and the washing machine sits right above my bedroom, so when they run a load at 2am my whole wall rattles. Last Tuesday the vibration knocked a framed photo off my nightstand and cracked the glass, and when I knocked on their door the next morning they said nobody ever complained before. Is there anything that really works for this, like a ceiling vibration pad or just talking to the landlord, or am I stuck sleeping with earplugs for the next year?

Wait, did your neighbor seriously say nobody ever complained before like that means anything when they're doing laundry at 2am? That's the oldest excuse in the book, as if quiet hours stop applying just because the last person who lived under them was too nice or too asleep to say something. I'd skip the ceiling pad and go straight to the landlord with a note about the cracked glass, because noise complaints on paper tend to get way more traction than a polite knock.
