My upstairs neighbor showed me the note trick that got his 2am guitar playing to stop
I ran into Marcus from 4B while taking out trash on Tuesday and he mentioned his old place had a guy who played guitar at 2am every night. Instead of banging on the ceiling, he wrote a short note, left his number, and said to text him when it happened so he could call the guy himself. He said the neighbor actually texted him that same night and they worked out a schedule where guitar time was before 9pm. I tried the same note thing with the guy above me who stomps around at midnight and he came down to apologize the next day. Has anyone else had luck with the note plus number approach or does it backfire depending on the neighbor?

Man that stomping at midnight stuff is rough, I feel for you. Dealt with a guy above me who sounded like he was bowling every night and it wore me down after a while. The note plus number thing is smart because it makes it personal instead of just a faceless complaint. Sounds like you got lucky with a decent neighbor who actually cared enough to come apologize. Mine would've just crumpled the note and thrown it on the floor.
