Heard my neighbor say the walls are "breathing" and now I cant unhear it

Last night I was half asleep and heard the guy next door tell his friend that our shared wall "breathes" when the AC kicks on. I thought he was being poetic, but then I realized he meant I can hear his coughs and his TV through the drywall like it's a speaker. Now every time I hear the vent rumble, I picture the wall as a giant lung and it's creeping me out. Has anyone else had a random comment from a neighbor completely ruin how you hear your own apartment?

Honestly, that sounds kinda cool once you get past the creepy part. Like, you basically got a free surround sound setup from your neighbor, just not the one you picked out. I mean, the wall being a "giant lung" is a wild mental image, but that just means their AC system is working, right? Way better than the alternative where the wall is dead silent and you gotta worry about weird drafts or something. You'll probably start making up stories about what the wall is "saying" and it'll turn into a game instead of a fear. Give it a week and you'll be yelling back at the wall like it's your buddy.
