Bought a white noise machine for thin walls, ended up hating the sound
Picked up a LectroFan off Amazon last month because my upstairs neighbor stomps around like he's training for a marathon at midnight. First night it helped cover the noise. By night three that fan sound was driving me nuts. Couldn't sleep. returned it yesterday and went back to earplugs. Anyone else find those machines more annoying than helpful?

Went through the same thing with a Dohm model. Lasted about a week before the whirring started sounding like a dentist drill someone left running in the next room. Tried the box fan on low once and that was worse, the blades clicking every rotation. Ended up using a regular floor fan pointed at the wall instead, the air hitting the drywall makes a softer rumble that actually blends out neighbor noise without the annoying pitch. Might sound weird but it works for me.
