An old landlord in Buffalo taught me the pillow trick for hammering at night
Back in my first place near Buffalo, my upstairs neighbor was a retired guy who'd bang around at 11pm, and when I knocked to complain he just laughed and handed me a throw pillow. He said stuff it behind your picture frames so the walls don't rattle, and honestly my bedroom got way quieter after that, like 10 minutes of work. Does anyone still do the pillow thing, or have you found something that works better for wall rattle without nailing stuff into the drywall?
That pillow trick is legit and I still use it. Behind frames is smart but don't forget the backs of shelves and anything hanging on the wall, because those are the spots that buzz the worst. I've also had good luck with those little felt pads they sell for furniture feet, the sticky kind, just cut them small and stick them where the frame touches the wall. Costs a few bucks and no holes in the drywall. Only thing I'd add is make sure whatever you stuff back there isn't too thick or the frame won't sit flat and you'll get a new rattle.
