The choice between a big raise and a better schedule
About five years ago, my old dental office in Phoenix offered me a $4 an hour raise to stay, but it meant keeping my crazy weekend shifts. I took a job across town for the same pay I was already making, just to get a normal Monday through Friday. It was tight for a bit, but having my weekends back for my kid's soccer games was worth every penny. Anyone else ever pick time over money and not regret it?

Totally get that. I left a retail manager job that paid more for a regular 9-5. The pay cut was real, like a couple hundred less each check. But having my nights and weekends free? Zero regrets, my stress level dropped so much.

Actually, river_burns is right about it being a pay cut when you look at it mathematically. But I think you were saying that the trade-off was worth it anyway, which is fair. Sometimes the money isn't everything when you're getting your sanity back.
