PSA: I signed off on 6 inspections in 20 minutes at my old plant, and nobody ever checked
I worked quality control at a food packing plant in Modesto for 3 years, and our line ran 400 cases an hour on a good shift. Most nights the supervisor would tell us at 5:45am to just sign the sheet so we could clock out, so I got in the habit of checking the first two pallets and stamping the rest. One Tuesday a box of product went out with a bad seal and a store in Sacramento pulled 60 cases off the shelf two weeks later. Nobody traced it back to me and I quit 4 months after that for other reasons, but I still think about those signed sheets. Now I want to ask folks who work in food, pharma, or anywhere with signed paperwork, how do you handle pressure to fake a check you know you didn't do? Do you push back, document it, or just sign?
