Had to pick between a robot mop and a cheap steam cleaner for the tile at my aunt's rental

Went with the steam cleaner because the tenant's grout was gross and I figured heat would do better than a wet mop. It worked great but man did I sweat through my shirt in that tiny bathroom for 45 minutes. Anybody else regret skipping the robot option on a job?

Had a buddy who tried the robot mop on his own bathroom tile last year. Set it up, hit start, and walked away thinking he was a genius. Came back 20 minutes later to find the thing had smeared mud from his dog's paws all over the floor because it just pushed the dirty water around. He texted me a picture of this wet brown swirl pattern that looked like a bad art project. Ended up spending an hour hand scrubbing it anyway with a sponge and bleach. So nah, I think you made the right call with the steam cleaner even if you sweated buckets.

Question if it's really that deep though. A steam cleaner is a tool for the job, but so is a mop and bucket and you gotta do it right either way. Sounds like his real mistake was trusting a robot to handle dog mud in the first place, not picking the wrong kind of heat.
