Bought a $200 power tool on clearance that turned out to be a display model with no motor inside

I grabbed what I thought was a steal at the hardware store liquidation sale, but got it home and realized the casing was hollow with a brick for weight. Did anyone else get burned by those final sale clearance traps?

You checked inside before buying though right? Seems like that's on you for not looking.

Wait, didn't you check the inside before you handed over your cash though? I did the same thing with a used car once, just gave the outside a quick look and figured the engine was fine because it looked clean. Learned my lesson hard when I found out the whole transmission was shot a week later.
