Walked out of my shift at the airport diner after a 14 hour double and I still feel weird about it
So I work at this diner near the airport in Boise and two Fridays ago we got hit with three delayed flights in a row, which means the whole terminal flooded in at once. I was already on hour 10 of a double and the manager kept saying "just ten more minutes" every time someone asked for help, which turned into four more hours. Around hour 14 a guy threw his cold eggs at me because his flight got canceled and I just took off my apron and walked out the back door without a word. I didn't even grab my tips from the jar, that's how done I was. Now the manager is texting me asking me to come back and two coworkers said I left them hanging during the rush. Part of me knows I hit a wall, but the other part feels bad because they had to cover my tables. Am I the jerk here or was walking out the right call after that many hours?
