Rant: I almost gave up on my side gig until a guy in Tulsa showed me the 3 client rule
Six months ago I was doing freelance bookkeeping on the side and felt like walking away. I had 14 clients, worked till midnight most nights, and still barely cleared $900 a month. A guy I met at a church breakfast in Tulsa asked how many clients I had and when I told him he laughed. He said cap it at 3 at a time and raise the rate by 40 percent, then fire the ones who fight it. I did that and now I make more in 20 hours than I used to in 50, so was I wrong to almost throw in the towel or was the work just not the problem?
