My foreman told me to stop fixing every little thing on a job and it stung because he was right
So I quit a job two weeks ago over what I thought was a stupid call from my foreman, and the reason still bugs me. We were roughing in a bathroom remodel in Round Rock and I kept stopping to fix small stuff, a crooked stud here, a little gap there, stuff nobody would ever see behind drywall. He pulled me aside and said straight up, "You're costing us a day and a half chasing perfect on a wall that's getting covered." I got hot about it and told him I don't turn in sloppy work, and he said that's not what he meant, that I was burning the crew's time on stuff that doesn't matter while the real problems sat waiting. I walked off the site that afternoon and told myself I was done. Two days later I came back because he was right and I knew it, but I still feel weird about quitting over it. Has anyone else walked off a job over a fair criticism that just landed wrong at the moment?
