Torque wrench calibration caught my A320 brake job before it bit me
Last Tuesday at the hangar in Dallas, I was doing a brake change and my old torque wrench felt off. Clicked at what should've been 90 ft-lbs but it just felt... soft. Took it to the cal bench and it was reading 82. That's an 8 pound miss on a critical part. If I hadn't checked it, those bolts could've walked loose on the next flight. How often do you guys actually send yours out for calibration? Mine was 14 months overdue, I'll admit that.

Used to think those cal intervals were overkill, but this changed my mind completely.

Torque wrenches don't read high from age, they read low, so your 82 could've been worse than you think. Good catch on checking it, but maybe bump that calibration reminder up to every 6 months if you're doing brake jobs.
