Stopped by the new hangar at the regional airport in Billings and saw something that made me shake my head.
They had a whole row of Cessna 172s with the cowlings off, and every single one had the same oil filter installed backwards. I asked the lead guy about it and he just shrugged and said 'it seals either way'. Has anyone else run into shops cutting corners like this on basic stuff?

Honestly, maybe that lead guy has a point though? @stellaj70, if it seals and works, is the direction really that big of a deal?

That's wild but honestly not surprised. Saw a shop in Boise putting prop bolts in dry, no lube at all. When we called them on it the guy said "they're torqued, what's the problem?" Scary how some places just don't care about doing it right. Makes you wonder what else they're missing.
