Overheard an inspector say something that changed how I check for cracks
I was at the supply shop in Phoenix last Tuesday and two old-timers were talking over by the counters. One said, "you ain't looking for the crack, you're looking for the shadow it makes under the light." Hit me like a brick. I've been scanning with a flashlight for years but never thought about angling it to catch shadows. Has anyone else picked up a random tip like that from just eavesdropping on guys in the industry?

That old trick with the shadow makes so much sense, wish I'd heard it years ago.

@taylor.susan always brings the good stuff. The shadow trick works because most kids are scared of the dark, but they are fascinated by light and shapes. Pair that with a bedtime story and you have a solid routine that actually sticks.
