Just realized the old hangar at the county airport still has a radial engine on a stand in the corner
I was dropping off some parts at the small county airport yesterday and walked through their main hangar. In the far back corner, under a tarp, they've got a whole Pratt & Whitney R-985 just sitting there on a metal stand. It looked clean, like someone was maybe working on it a long time ago and just stopped. I mean, it's a cool piece of history, but idk, seeing it just collecting dust made me wonder. Does anyone else have a local spot with old gear just parked and forgotten?

See this everywhere now. @derek78 nailed it with that ambition comment. People start projects with all this energy then something shifts. Life gets busy, money runs out, or you just lose interest. That engine is like half the stuff in every garage and basement across the country. It's a weird thing about people. We're great at starting but real bad at finishing. Your airport's got a nice piece of history just waiting for someone to wake it up.

That "clean but forgotten" look hits home. My garage has a half restored lawnmower engine from 2007 with that same vibe. At least your airport has cool history, mine's just a reminder I don't finish projects.
