Just found out that blue Loctite has a shelf life of only 2 years
I was digging through my toolbox last night and noticed a bottle of Loctite from 2019, so I looked it up. Apparently after that date it loses its grip strength and you're basically just putting goo on your bolts. Has anyone else had a fastener come loose because of expired thread locker?

Saw a YouTube channel test this exact thing a while back, they used expired blue Loctite on some suspension bolts and half of them backed out after some simulated bumps. They said the chemical breakdown makes it turn into basically hard plastic dust instead of actually bonding. I trashed all my old bottles after watching that since I do my own brakes and suspension work.

yo that video got me too, i watched the same one from project farm i think? scared me straight honestly. i had a half full bottle of blue loctite in my garage that was probably 5 years old and i tossed it right after seeing that test. the way they showed it just crumbling into dust instead of holding was wild. i do all my own work too, brakes and suspension are not something you wanna gamble on. better safe than sorry, a new $8 bottle is way cheaper than a wheel coming off on the highway. i feel you on trashing the old stuff, no shame in being cautious with safety critical bolts.
