I used to swear by safety wire pliers but a 15 year vet showed me my mistake

Always thought the fancy wire twisters were necessary until a guy at the hangar in Dallas grabbed my hand and showed me how my twisting rhythm was actually creating weak spots. He had me do 10 turns by hand on a scrap panel and it was way tighter and more consistent. Anyone else find hand twisting is actually faster once you get the muscle memory down?

Funny how that works. Bigger pattern I see all the time is people reaching for the expensive specialized tool when the simple manual method is actually more reliable once you learn the feel of it.

Saw a woodworking video the other day where the guy used a hand plane instead of a power sander. Took him longer but the finish was way smoother. Kind of made me think about all the gadgets I own that I barely touch.
