I always thought torque sticks were junk until I tested one against my Snap-on micrometer at the Phoenix hangar

Checked the calibration on a used GearWrench torque stick with a lab-grade tester from work and it was within 2% across 5 pulls, so maybe the internet is wrong about them being only for lug nuts.

Watched a buddy use a torque stick on a rusty lug nut once and it snapped clean off before the torque spec even registered. Made me wonder if the whole debate is more about tool condition than the design itself. I think people just assume anything under $100 must be junk, but real world testing shows different if the gear is maintained right. That 2% result is impressive honestly, makes me want to dig up my old Harbor Freight one and put it through a proper test at work.

Snapped clean off" - my buddy Jim had the same thing happen with a Craftsman socket. Swore by it for years.
