Honestly thought I'd find that phantom hydraulic leak in under an hour

Tbh, it was a tiny nick in a hard line behind the main spar on a Cessna 172, took me almost the whole shift to finally spot it. Anyone ever have a simple job turn into a full-day hunt like that?

Behind the main spar? That's a brutal spot to find a tiny leak.

Actually, the main spar itself is usually the real nightmare. The area behind it is tight, sure, but at least you can sometimes get a borescope in there. The spar web is a solid wall, so if the leak path is through it, you're in for a world of pain trying to isolate it. Finding the drip point is just the start of that particular headache.
