The $60 air fryer finally beat my $400 convection oven for weeknight meals

After a year of staring at my fancy convection oven and still ordering takeout three times a week, I caved and bought a cheap air fryer from Target last month. I compared the same chicken thighs side by side on a Tuesday night, one batch in each machine, and the air fryer finished in 22 minutes while the oven took 40 and still left the skin soggy on two pieces. The real difference was the hot air circulation and the smaller space, which meant I didn't have to preheat for 15 minutes or clean a huge roasting pan after. What got me was the counter space I gave up, but now I actually cook fresh veggies instead of forgetting them in the crisper drawer until they go bad. Has anyone else switched over after being loyal to a big oven for years, or am I just late to this party? I still feel like a fake adult using a tiny basket instead of a real appliance, but last night I made salmon and roasted broccoli in 18 minutes flat and that felt like winning.
