The $450 tumble dryer I bought used caught fire after 3 weeks

Picked up a cheap dryer from a Facebook Marketplace seller in Akron, thought I was saving money. It worked fine for like 2 weeks, then one evening I smelled burning plastic and saw smoke coming from the back vent. Turns out the lint trap was cracked and the guy never cleaned the inside, so it was packed with lint. Has anyone else had a used appliance turn into a hazard, or should I just bite the bullet and buy new next time?
