My town added a $9 "convenience fee" for online payments last year. It feels like they're just inventing new charges to make up for budget shortfalls. You have to read every single line on the bill now.

It's a tax on being organized. They know most people will pay online to avoid the hassle, so they just tack on a fee for it.
