I bought a $400 online course on 'passive income' that was just recycled blog posts
I mean, I saw the ads everywhere and thought it was my ticket out of my boring job. The whole thing was just a PDF with stuff you could find for free, and the 'community' was a dead Facebook group. Anyone else get burned by one of those 'make money while you sleep' promises?

Wasn't that whole "passive income" label part of the problem? It makes it sound like you don't have to do any real work, which just isn't true. Those courses sell the dream but skip the actual effort part.

Look, you're missing the point @jamie712. The label "passive income" is just a goal, it's what you build towards after putting in a ton of work up front. Those courses are selling the end result, which is the whole point of a dream. Nobody buys a course on how to dig holes, they buy one on how to build a pool. The effort part is supposed to be obvious.

Oh man, isn't that the truth. I bought one of those passive income courses once thinking I'd be sipping coffee on a beach in a month. Turns out the only thing passive was my bank account while I stayed up till 2am learning how to build a website that nobody visited. Dream big they said, it'll be worth it they said.
