Finally paid off my credit card after 3 years of minimum payments...
It was a $4,200 balance from a broken water heater in 2021 and I just made the last payment yesterday, now I actually have to figure out how to budget for a new washing machine since my current one is leaking and has anyone else dealt with that sudden panic when you realize your emergency fund is gone?

A friend of mine had the exact same thing happen after paying off her car loan - her boiler went out the very next week. She ended up having to borrow from her brother just to get hot water again. It really does feel like the universe waits for that exact moment to test you, doesn't it?

My check engine light came on literally the same day I made my last truck payment. Not even joking, I was still at the bank. 3500 bucks for a new transmission. I sat in the parking lot and laughed for a good five minutes because what else can you do? It's like the car knows you just freed up that monthly cash and decides it's time for a little vacation at the mechanic's. Your friend has my full sympathy, cold showers and surprise bills are a special kind of kick in the teeth.
