Bought a $40 tire inflator and it saved me from a real mess
Honestly, I kept putting off buying one because I figured gas stations had air pumps. Last month my tire pressure light came on during a late night drive home from work. Every station I stopped at had a broken pump or wanted exact change I didn't have. I finally ordered a basic inflator online for about forty bucks. It showed up yesterday and I used it this morning, took five minutes. Has anyone else had a simple tool fix a huge headache?

Every station I stopped at had a broken pump" is the worst feeling.

Check your tire pressure too?

I saw a study once that said underinflated tires can drop your gas mileage by like 3% or something, which adds up quick if you drive a lot. @kelly.emma is totally right about those broken pumps too, I've had that happen at three different stations in one day before (in the middle of summer, of course). Makes you wonder if they just leave them broken on purpose to sell more air in cans at the counter. But honestly even the working ones sometimes have those gauges that are way off, so I usually just carry a little stick gauge in the glovebox.
