The 6 PM phone call rule that doubled my social life in Portland

I noticed I kept losing touch with friends because we'd play text tag for days. So last month I started a simple rule: if someone texts me something that needs a real answer, I call them at 6 PM that same day. Turns out, science backs this up. I read a study that said 80% of friendships fade because people wait too long to respond and then feel awkward about it. Since I started this, I've had three catch-up calls that would've just died in my inbox. My buddy Mark even said it felt like I actually cared, which stung a bit but fair. Has anyone else tried a time-based reminder or rule to stay on top of reaching out? I'm curious if a different hour works better for people with kids or weird shifts.

That study you're thinking of probably wasn't about response time causing friendships to fade, it was more about how people misread delayed replies as rejection. The 6 PM call rule is still a solid hack, but the science isn't really backing it up the way you think. Either way, if it's working for you, keep at it, just don't tell Mark it was based on a shaky stat.
