That afternoon at the laundromat where I finally figured out how to ask people to hang out
I was at the Spin Cycle on 3rd Street last month, waiting for my jeans to finish. This woman around my age was folding towels and we started chatting about how the dryers eat socks. I almost just smiled and walked away like I always do, but something made me say "hey, want to grab coffee after this?" She said yes. That moment made me realize I overthink asking people to be friends way too much. Has anyone else had a random encounter turn into a real friendship?

Did a friend of yours have that happen?

Yeah exactly, one of my buddies had this happen to them with their car lease of all things. They thought everything was fine, payments were on time, then came back after the lease ended and got hit with this wild fee for "excessive wear and tear" that they said was in the contract but nobody ever explained clearly. It ended up costing them like two thousand bucks and they had to fight it for months. That's why I always tell people now to actually read those documents or at least ask someone to walk through the fine print before signing anything. It sounds boring but it can save your wallet a whole lot of pain.
