Study says it takes 50 hours to go from acquaintance to friend, I call BS

I read this study that says it takes about 50 hours of hanging out to go from acquaintance to friend, and over 200 hours to become a close friend. That just feels off to me. I met my best friend at a dead-end job in Cleveland back in 2018, we had maybe 10 real conversations before we were swapping spare keys and trauma stories. But I've also spent over 200 hours with a neighbor at our building's laundry room and we still just talk about the weather and whose kid is loud. Has anyone else found that some people click way faster than any number of hours can predict, or is there actually a magic hour mark for you?
