Realized I was the one always canceling plans and it hit me after a friend said something
I thought I was being flexible but my friend finally told me 'you never show up, Hannah' after I bailed on dinner for the 4th time in 2 months. That gut punch made me see I was treating friends like options not priorities. Has anyone else gotten that kind of wake-up call from a friend?

Oh man, that hit me right in the gut because I've been there too. What worked for me was actually making a rule for myself: if I cancel on someone twice in a row for the same reason like being too tired or busy, I just don't make plans with them again until I can actually commit. I started putting hangouts in my calendar with a notification two hours before so I can't use the excuse of forgetting. It sounds dumb but I also tell my friends upfront if I'm in a weird mood so they know I'm not just blowing them off. Changed everything for me honestly.

Wait so you just straight up told your friends when you're in a weird mood? That's genius, I've been trying that lately and it takes so much pressure off. I also started doing the calendar thing with two hour alerts for like everything, not just hangouts, and it honestly helps me not bail at the last second.
