Rant: I think the 'friendship needs 3 hangouts a month' rule is made up
A friend of mine moved to Denver 14 months ago and everyone keeps saying we have to talk every single week or we'll drift. We text maybe once a month now. In March I flew out for 4 days, we picked up like nothing happened, no awkward catch up talk at all. Meanwhile I have people in my own city I see twice a month and it still feels like small talk every time. I think the people who make you feel close are the ones you can go quiet with, not the ones you hit a quota with. So what actually keeps you close to someone, time on the calendar or how easy the silence is?
