Pro tip: the 'one invite back' rule saved my friendship in Chicago

I kept inviting this one guy to everything for like 6 months. Dinners, shows, even helped him move. He accepted twice, never once asked me to anything. I was about to write him off as a taker, then my sister told me to try the opposite. Just stop inviting him and see what happens. So I did. Three weeks later he texts me out of the blue asking if I want to catch a Cubs game, turns out he thought I was the one who wasn't interested because I never asked about his stuff. We hung out last Saturday and it was great. Has anyone else had the quiet friend who just waits for the other person to make the move?

Whoa, that's wild! I actually just read something about how some people are just wired to never make the first move, like they think it's rude or something. It's crazy how easily we can misread each other like that.
