My calendar reminder to text a buddy actually worked

I set a bi-weekly alert after noticing I hadn't reached out to my friend Mark in over two months, and it led to us grabbing a beer last Friday. How do you guys remember to check in without it feeling like a chore?

Without it feeling like a chore" is the part I don't get. If checking in feels like a chore, maybe you don't actually want to do it. I just call my friends when I think of them.

Honestly, that line about it feeling like a chore really depends on the person. For me, life gets busy and I genuinely forget, even about people I really care about. Setting a reminder takes the mental load off so I don't have to remember. It just creates the opportunity, and then the actual conversation is never a chore. The reminder isn't for the friendship, it's just for my own scattered brain.
