Just had to choose between a quiet night in and a group dinner out
I was torn between canceling on a dinner with 6 coworkers from my office in Austin or staying home and watching Netflix. I pushed myself to go even though I was tired, and it was actually nice - we ended up talking about stuff beyond work for once. Now I'm wondering if I should start saying yes more even when my social battery is low. Has anyone else forced themselves into a group hang and regretted it or been glad they went?

Sometimes you gotta push through and it ends up being worth it, honestly.

Is it possible that pushing through is actually the wrong move sometimes, and we just don't talk about that as much? I mean, there's a fine line between being stubborn and being committed, and it's hard to tell which one you're on until you're already deep in it. In my experience, the times I've walked away from something felt like failure at first, but later turned out to be the smarter call. Not saying it's never worth it, but I think we need to admit that "pushing through" can also mean ignoring a bad situation for way too long. Your mileage may vary, but sometimes the real win is knowing when to call it quits.
