Got told I was 'too available' for my friends last month...

A buddy straight up said I text back in 2 minutes every time, and it made me realize I was kinda smothering people, so now I wait a few hours before replying to see if they actually want to talk or not, has anyone else gotten feedback like that?

Honestly man, I used to be the exact opposite. I thought being quick to reply was just being a good friend, like showing you care. But then I had this friend who would always reply in like 10 seconds flat and it actually started to bug me. I couldn't tell if they were just bored or actually wanted to talk to me, you know? So yeah, your buddy's advice kind of clicked for me after that. I started waiting a bit too, not like playing games, but just giving people space to reach out when they actually want to. It's made my conversations feel way more real, less like I'm just filling time.

Yo omg same thing happened to me? Like I was always the first to reply and double text and then I realized I was just giving my energy away to people who weren't matching it. Now I just reply when I feel like it and honestly it's way less stressful.

Right? My friend Sarah did the same thing. She was always the one texting first and then she just stopped. @jason752 's point about it feeling more real makes sense too, she says her friendships actually got better after she backed off.
