Appreciation post: The friend who helped me fix my lawn mower after 3 weekends of struggle

I spent three straight Saturdays trying to get my old mower to start, watched like 6 YouTube videos, and replaced the spark plug and air filter for nothing. Finally last weekend my buddy Dave came over, looked at it for maybe 5 minutes, and said 'your fuel line is pinched under the gas tank.' Took him longer to find a socket than to fix it. Has anyone else had a friend save them from days of frustrating DIY work?

Three weekends because of a pinched hose? That's brutal.

And here I was thinking three weekends was actually pretty good for a pinched hose. I've seen guys spend three months chasing a phantom coolant leak and end up replacing the whole cooling system at triple the cost. Three weekends just means you have time to actually check everything else while you're in there. Could be worse, they could be doing it in February through a frozen gravel lot.

Yeah I get what you're saying "three weekends" does sound brutal... but honestly that pinched hose probably saved them from a bigger headache down the road. If they had just wrapped it with tape and called it good, that same hose would've blown completely on a Monday morning with the shop full of customers waiting. Better to spend three weekends fixing it right than rushing and ending up with a tow bill and a rental car for two weeks.
