A tiny win that felt huge after a lonely few months

Honestly, last Tuesday I finally asked my neighbor Megan if she wanted to walk to the coffee shop on Main Street with me. We've just waved for a year, but I was so tired of not knowing anyone here. We talked for a full hour about her dog and my old job, and she texted me the next day to say thanks. It's wild how one small 'yes' can make a place start to feel like home. Has anyone else broken through that surface level with a neighbor or coworker recently?

Isn't it funny how we build these things up in our heads? I always told myself it was fine to keep to myself, that bothering someone with a chat was a hassle for them. Reading your post totally flipped that for me. I realized I was just protecting myself from the chance of a no, and missing all the possible yeses. That hour you had is proof it's worth the risk. Good for you for making the move!

Yeah, but some people really are just busy.
