Vent: am I the only one who's been using caulk wrong for 10 years?
I was patching some gaps around my kitchen sink last Saturday and my buddy Jake stopped by. He watched me for like 2 minutes and then asked why I was smoothing the bead with my finger. I said that's how you do it, right? He laughed and showed me this little plastic tool that makes perfect concave joints in one pass. I had no idea that existed. Now I'm thinking back on all those ugly, uneven caulk lines I've left around every baseboard and counter in my house. So here's my debate: is the finger method actually fine for most people, or are you doing yourself a disservice by not using the tool? Has anyone else had that moment where a simple trick changed everything?

Is it really that big of a deal, though?

Oh man, @patricia_hayes I used to feel the same way until something happened to me. A friend forgot my birthday and I told myself it didn't matter, but it kept bugging me for weeks. Finally, I just said "hey, that stung a little" and they apologized and it was over. For me, being honest about small stuff stopped it from turning into big stuff later.
