Unpopular opinion: stop sealing your grout before it fully cures
I did this wrong on my own bathroom floor 3 years ago and paid for it. I mopped the grout clean, waited maybe 6 hours, then slapped sealer on because I was in a hurry. Two winters later in my place near Eubank and Constitution, half the grout was cracking and pulling away from the tile. Come to find out, most cement grout needs 48 to 72 hours to cure before it can take sealer, and if you lock that moisture in early, it just breaks down from the inside. I redid that floor last spring, waited a full 3 days, and not one crack since. Same bucket of grout, same sealer, only thing I changed was the wait. Anyone else get burned by rushing this, or is it just me?
