That $600 water heater replacement I did myself last year is still running strong

I paid a guy $1,200 to install a water heater back in 2018 and it started leaking after 18 months. Last year I watched a few YouTube videos and did it myself for about $600 in parts and tools. Anyone else find that contractors around here charge way too much for basic installs?

Hmm, a good contractor's labor and warranty are often worth the extra cost.

Watching three YouTube videos saves more than a decade of overpaying for most home repairs.
