PSA: My neighbor's roof repair in the North Valley taught me to always check the weather

I was helping my friend patch a leak on his flat roof near Paseo del Norte last spring. We got the tar all laid out and the new membrane ready to go, and then a dust storm came out of nowhere. It blew a whole bag of roofing nails off the roof and into his cactus garden. We spent the next hour with a magnet on a string, fishing them out of the prickly pears. Now I check the forecast twice before I even get the ladder out. Anyone else have a simple job get wrecked by Albuquerque weather?

It's like that with everything lately. My mail keeps getting blown off the porch, and I had to chase a trash can lid halfway down the street last Tuesday. Feels like the whole world's just a little less glued down than it used to be.
