My water heater pilot light kept going out every morning
Turned out the vent on the side of my house was clogged with a bird nest, so it was backdrafting. Anyone know a good way to keep those clear without climbing a ladder every month?

Check the vent cover itself, not just the opening. Some of them have little screens that get blocked with lint. A quick blast with a leaf blower from inside might clear it.

Wait you have a leaf blower inside your house? That's wild, I keep mine in the garage with all the other dusty stuff. I guess it makes sense for a quick fix but I'd be worried about dust going everywhere. My wife would kill me if I tried that in our laundry room. Still, good point about the little screen on the vent cover, I always forget to check that part.
